JOB DETAILS:
The Warehouse Manager's primary purpose is to coach, develop and lead the Warehouse Supervisors, Inventory Specialists, and in some cases, Forklift Operators within a Zone Warehouse Operation. This role provides supervision, training, coaching & development, skill building and support/motivation to their Warehouse Teams. Activities to accomplish this include: work-withs, goal setting, KPI's and objectives, performance tracking, and support for the execution of Warehouse Planning Meetings.Ultimately the goal of the Warehouse Manager is to develop high-performing Warehouse Teams that consistently achieve their productivity goals. The Warehouse Manager also plays a crucial role in establishing team norms; ensuring alignment to NWNA Aspirations and Beliefs; building teamwork between Route Operations; and serving as the overall Warehouse Operations leader for the Zone. Finally, the Warehouse Manager establishes the expectations for their teams performance via the merit review and 1on1 process and demonstrating adherence to all company policies and procedures. Inclusion of the Warehouse Manager position in the Zone structure is recommended when there are 3+ Branches, multiple geographically dispersed Branches, and/or the Zone Logistics Manager direct reporting structure exceeds 15 directs.
Accountabilities (essence of job function)
Direct Leadership and People Development
- Reflects NWNA Aspirations & Beliefs in conducting daily business role and activities
- Supports the interview, selection, hiring, training and retention process for all warehouse roles
- Provides coaching and feedback to team members. Identifies performance opportunities and creates specific action plans to improve efficiencies
- Communicates effectively to team members and leads through changes in company policies and initiatives
- Leads through communication via warehouse planning meetings, weekly Route Ops meeting, etc.
- Conducts employee merit reviews, progressive discipline process when needed
- Supports execution of work safety programs & training
- Scorecard, P & L, and KPI review with ZLM
- Execute Warehouse work-withs
- Facilitate NWNA required Drug & Alcohol testing for forklift operators
- Ensure required NWNA safety training is conducted for warehouse employees
Inventory
- Ensure Daily/EOM Inventory process execution
- Maintain and Forecast proper inventory levels
- PCOG's Management
- Ensure execution of random check-in/check-out audits
- Comply to all NWMA equipment and product audits
- Ensure all equipment return / tagging procedures are in place
- Execution / ownership of product variance controls / reduction plans
Warehouse
- Manage headcount, direct labor, & temporary labor dollars
- Track, Support and Utilize Warehouse KPI's to identify performance opportunities
- Ensure Full Service Loading Process compliance
- Ensure QC Chain of Custody process compliance
Facility
- Serve as point of contact for all facility related projects adhering to all timelines
- Monitor and improve facility Safety / Security / Environmental / Quality standards through observations and inspections
- Maintain appropriate appearance/cleanliness in all locations (GMP compliance)
- Maintain proper regulatory compliance programs (Hazardous Communication, Emergency Evacuation, and Forklift training)
Requirements:
Profile (previous work experience and background)
- 2 to 5 years previous supervisory experience preferred
- Alignment and commitment to NWNA Aspirations & Beliefs (core values)
- Demonstrates confidence and influence in leading team to achieve productivity goals
- Skilled communicator (in groups and 1-on-1), who can set clear expectations with direct reports
- Ability to hold direct reports accountable through both quantitative and qualitative goal attainment
- Ability to provide training and development for direct reports
- Provides excellent role model, peer leadership and positive influence to fellow team members
- Positive team-player attitude
- Strong organizational skills / Attention to detail
- Possesses exceptional work ethic, energy, and drive
- Ability to handle physical requirements, including, but not limited to, repeated bending, stretching, twisting, and lifting up to 60 pounds
- Able to conduct regular inventory counts and audits
- Able to safely use various warehouse equipment, including a forklift
- Valid driver's license
- College degree preferred / High school diploma or equivalent required
- PC experience preferred (RMS, Excel, etc.)
-must be willing to work a flexible schedule (hours will change based on business needs)
-must be willing and able to travel to multiple locations (Lorton/Chesapeake, VA and Baltimore/Lanham, MD)
